Appointment Types:

Standard Appointment

10-minute appointment for patients presenting with one issue

Long Appointment

20- 30 minute appointments patients presenting with more than one issue. Patients will be charged a fee according to the length and complexity of the visit.

Telehealth Appointment

10-minute consult via telephone. Patients will be called on the day before the close of business and are not required to phone in. Standard appointment fees apply.
Eligibility criteria applies: patients must have been seen in the clinic within the last 12 months OR be required by SA Health to isolate.

Urgent Appointments

Provision is made for urgent appointments and they will always be given priority. If you need urgent assistance please let the receptionist know.

Cancelled Appointments

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make the appointment available to someone else. A small fee will be incurred for non-attendance without notice.

Waiting Time:

It can be difficult to always run to time and delays are sometimes unavoidable. If the doctor is behind schedule, the receptionist will inform you upon your arrival to the clinic.

Walk Ins

Marden Medical Clinic runs by bookings only. If patients do not have an appointment, we will accommodate to the best of our ability. Patients will be triaged at the time of the walk in to determine the urgency of the appointment.

Home Visits

In certain circumstances home visits may be required.  This may be able to be arranged for patients living in the local area at the discretion of the doctor.  Please contact the clinic to see if your GP is able to do a home visit.  Please check with the receptionist regarding fees for home visits.

Other Appointment Types Available

Mental Health Consult, Skin Checks, Care Plans, Cervical Screening test (Pap), Immunisation, ECG, Iron Infusion, Wound Dressing, Spirometry, Implanon insertion/ Removal, Workers compensation, Suturing/suture removal.

Communications

Telephone Access

Although most problems are best handled via direct consultation, a doctor may be available during normal hours for emergency advice. Both nursing and reception staff are experienced in helping you decide whether the matter requires an appointment, a return telephone call from your doctor or urgent attention.

Results

It is the policy of this practice for all patients to return to see their doctor for all test results. Please make an appointment after your test has been performed.

Recalls / Reminders

Our practice is committed to preventative care. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be a part of this system please let your doctor or receptionist know.

Referrals / Sick Certificates /Prescriptions

Patients need to make an appointment to see a doctor for any of the above.

Practice Policy

The practice policy is not to receive emails from patients requiring medical advice.

Communication with patients via electronic means, namely SMS or facsimile, is conducted with appropriate regard to the privacy laws relating to health information and confidentiality of patients’ health information.

We have a No-Reply PIN protected email – This is used by doctors and staff to send non sensitive documents such as Medical Certificates, referrals to patient’s.

Patient Record Information

If requested, the clinic is happy to provide a patient’s health summary.  Please speak with reception staff at the front desk to answer any questions or queries regarding this and the process.

Complete patient files will incur a fee. A list of fees is also available from Reception.

Patient Feedback

Our practice operates according to the Australian Medical Association Code of Ethics. From time to time we may ask you to complete a confidential questionnaire giving your thoughts on the clinic and the services we offer.

If you feel that improvements can be made, we are keen to hear your suggestions. While we believe that problems are best handled within the practice, you may choose to address your concerns to:

Marden Medical Clinic has systems and standards in place in order to ensure a high level of security is maintained at all times.  We are committed to respecting your privacy and we are required by law to protect any personal information we collect about you.  Your medical records are kept confidential and only available to authorised staff members.  Patients are able to access their own health information on request by filling out a Request for personal health information form available at reception.

If you wish to receive your results via a telephone consult, this is possible by calling the clinic and making an appointment with a doctor or via the Hot Docs appointments. Doctors at this clinic do not use email communication with their patients as it breaches patient confidentiality.  For confidential purposes, doctors use encrypted electronic communication between medical specialists.  Our full privacy policy is available on our website or at reception, please ask our friendly reception staff if you would like a copy.
